001 § Accidental Video § Arrival

[When the feed comes on, there's part of a face filling the screen... A big, white, furry face. Appa sniffs at the PCD and noses it aside. He wants the grass, not weird smelling things. He keeps nosing it aside as he goes.

A sleepy voice comes from a bit away. Aang had been asleep in Appa's saddle.] Are we there already?

[Appa makes a noise. It's a little uncertain and he noses the PCD again. After a moment, the camera shifts as it's picked up. Aang's face comes into view... upside down.] What'd you find? [He looks around. Surely, whatever this thing is belongs to someone who's probably still around.] Appa... where are we?

[The Animus just need someone to talk to, yo! That'll make them ALL better.]

We could take Appa.

It's not very far, but alright. It's been a long time since I've got to ride him, anyway.

[She's just going to resist the urge to hug you one more time, Aang.]

[Well, there's more of that weirdness.] Toph said she's been here for over a year...

She has been. [And she's going to start hoisting herself up onto Appa now.] I've been here for.. almost seven months now, but I don't remember all of it.

[He's just... going to stare for a moment and then get up on Appa.] Seven months?

Yeah. In case you were wondering why I was so happy to see you.

[A little quietly.] It's not like I minded or anything. [He grins, just a little sheepishly, and sits at the base of Appa's neck.] Yeah, I had wondered. Have you been alright here?

[In true Katara fashion, she doesn't notice the first part and instead just focuses on leaning over to rub Appa's fur affectionately.]

We've been alright. It's.. hard sometimes, but we take care of each other. And Appa! [She's dangerously close to baby talk.] It's so good to see you, too!

[Appa makes a noise at her and shifts a little. He's not trying to buck her off, just responding to her.]

[Aang makes sure she's on safely before taking the reins.] Yip, yip.

[He's quiet for a moment as they rise up.] So... Zuko said he's from the day of Black Sun...

[She leans back in the saddle, smiling as Appa takes off. It's nice to be airborn again, and she smiles a little, before pointing in a direction.]

Our house is that way.

[That last part gives her pause, though.]

Oh, that's right! Has that happened yet for you, Aang?

[He guides Appa the way she points.]

Ye-eah, a lot has happened for me. Did you come here from the same time that he did?

Um.

[She seems almost wary of saying too much.]

You were fighting the Fire Lord. Zuko and I were fighting Azula when I was brought here.

[He nods.] I'm from after that.

[Wait. That must mean --]

You beat the Fire Lord!

[He doesn't answer for a moment, and when he does, he's a bit more sober sounding.] Yeah, and I did it without killing him.

[He looks back at her.] It won't hurt anything that you know that, will it?

It won't.

[It takes her a second to respond, and there's utter gratefulness in her voice.]

We don't remember anything from this world.

Oh. [That seems weird, but hey, why not?]

[He hears that gratitude.] It's been that bad here?

What? No. I mean - sort of. I was just.. happy that things worked out. I haven't known, and I've been so worried.

[She bites her lip, contemplating, but there's no point in hiding it from him.]

There are some really bad people here, Aang. Worse than the Fire Lord.

[He nods.] Things worked out really well, Katara.

[That makes him start.] Worse than Ozai?

.. Yeah. Worse than Ozai. But we'll talk about all of that later, alright?

[He sighs. He'd... really hoped for some peaceful living for a while. The war is over, he's keeping his word to help Zuko. It was an awesome change from war, war, war. But he nods.]

Yeah, we'll talk about all of that later. [He looks back and grins at her.] So you're all living together here?

Yeah, we are. It's me and Zuko and Toph and our friend Break. And you, now, too, I guess.

[She motions at the house, getting ready to hop down from Appa's back when he lands.]

I can't wait for you to meet some of my friends.

[He guides Appa to land (and Appa doesn't crush the house, Zuko :P) and hops down.]

I'm sure I'll like them all.

You can stay in Zuko's room, I'm sure we have another bedroll. Are you hungry? Or I could make some tea.

[She's practically buzzing in happiness.]

[Aang grins. It'll be awesome to share a room with Zuko!] I'm sort of hungry.
